15 Techniques for Getting Your Anger under Control

Getting angry is normal. We all feel angry when we feel betrayed, hurt and embarrassed. The reason why we get angry or mad varies. The only thing that we should do is to cope with it before it can lead us to destruction or make us regret something we might do. The list below shows the different techniques on how to make your anger under control:

    1.  Look for a room where you can be alone, you can relax your mind and your body as well. Take a deep breath. Clear your mind until you have relaxed your body and soul. Try to lower your temper as much as possible. Think of something that made you the happiest person in the world.

2.      After you have cleared your mind and you already removed your anger, think about it again but do not get angry, instead, think of the possible reasons why you got angry and what you can do to prevent it from happening again.

3.      Find healthy ways to release your anger and stress. You can try tearing up small pieces of paper, listening to music, watching movies or anything that can personally help you calm down.

4.      When you feel really angry, think about the things you might regret after your anger is gone. Sometimes we feel powerful when we are very angry but after that anger is gone, we feel guilty because we’ve done something that’s inappropriate. Like many people said “The damage has been done, therefore, you cannot get the words you said back”.

5.      Before doing something that may affect your relationship with someone who hurt you, think first if it is justifiable to let out a word against him/her.

6.      Do you think revenge makes sense? We all think that revenge sometimes works but after we've done what we wanted, are we happy after doing all those things and hurt someone back?

7.      Payback is never a good idea. Sure it might make us feel good after a while, but it never really solves anything and it might increase any tension and built-up anger.

8.      Before making an action, try to close your eyes and think very hard about it. Will doing anything rash solve anything? Think of the consequences of your actions so that you won't regret anything later on.

9.      Try attending anger management therapy. It will definitely be beneficial since trained therapists will help you sort out what makes you angry and try to help you as much as they can.

10.  Go to a spa and spoil yourself a little bit. Going to a spa will help ease your mind and body as the ambiance and personnel are there to refresh you.

11.  Go to a karaoke bar and sing. When you sing you can let all your emotions out in a non-violent way and it'll help you feel better.

12.  If you have pets then you can feed them, play with them, or pet them.

13.  Find someone you can talk to like a close friend or a relative that can listen to you while you let out all your emotions and thoughts.

14.  Take a long walk. Anywhere is fine as long as the place is peaceful and nobody will bother you. It will help you as you gather your thoughts and help calm you down.

15.  Instead of confronting that person that you are angry at with a negative and aggressive attitude, try to talk to him/her as calm as possible and try to figure out why he or she made you angry.

Everyone gets angry, its just a matter of how you control it. Anger can break or sour relationships with people and it can have devastating results, which is why its important to control it. It is a very serious matter and it should not be taken lightly. Hopefully the tips you just read can help you out whenever you feel angry.
