Life today seems to be more and more stressful every day. When the going gets rough, it’s often up to us to get going and make some lifestyle changes that can help us feel healthier and happy. Here are some tips that have always worked for me!
Sunlight
Sunlight is great for your health. Not only does sunshine add to a better mood, it provides a lot of vitamin D, which is great for the teeth and bones. When the sun is shining, always try to find at least 15 to 20 minutes to get out and enjoy some yourself. See how quickly your mood will change for the better. However, always take care, if you are in the sun too long, to have adequate sunscreen on too.
Sleep
People may not realize it, but getting the proper amount of sleep helps the body feel rejuvenated and gives you the energy to work through your day to day problems. Adults really need a good 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night, and teenagers need even more. Of course, most of us have those nights we try to function on a few hours of sleep, but it’s going to catch up with you and you will feel worn down and tired, which affects your mood. Research has proven that people who are not getting enough sleep tend to live shorter lives. Sleep! It’s important.
Fruits and Vegetables
Mom was right. Eating fruits and vegetables is essential for all of us. The nutrients in both of these help fight diseases and illnesses, plus help with overall health & wellness. Juicing fruits and vegetables is a great way to get your daily allowance of these foods.
Relaxation Exercises
Doing some sort of relaxation exercises such as meditating, yoga or even sitting quietly with your eyes closed and breathing deeply is wonderful for helping the body relax. The key is to slow down a bit and make some quiet time for yourself, every day.
One Good Thing
Before you go to sleep at night, take the time to think about or write down a list of the good things that took place that day. Maybe add some of the things you feel grateful for. Even if it is something as small as getting the front parking space in a huge lot, write it down. Any psychologist will tell you that focusing on the positive will help you to be more positive, so get to writing!
Walking
Finding the time to take a walk can have a wonderfully soothing effect, and it gives you a chance to get some of the daily exercise you need. Even if it’s just 15 to 30 minutes, try to get out daily and take a little stroll.
Smile!
Always remember to smile. Even if you are forcing a smile, make it happen. Smiling at others and laughing can have a great effect on your health and outlook on life. It will make you feel great, so smile! What have you got to lose?
Although these are simple things, they can have the best benefits ever! Take a look at the list and one by one, add them into your daily planner to see how much change takes place in just a couple weeks!
